Teaming Up for Refugees Toolkit

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

James Paz y Mino, Salisbury University

Purpose of Toolkit

Specify Target Audience:

Refugee families; targeting male and female children currently living in refugee camps in three countries:

Al-Mekhym Refugee Camp, Karum

Bakambi Refugee Camp, Lombuanda

Urban Refugees in Pabrillo, Calidor

Value of Toolkit:

It is widely known that children who live within refugee camps are highly susceptible to "risk taking behavior". These "risk taking behaviors" stem from lack of positive outlook on life, caused by numerous problems within areas of highly protracted violence including:

- Inadequate Education

-Divides Between Ethnicities within the camps

- Inability to identify/ provide services to the refugee community

Goals:

Implementation of "Sport Programs" within the refugee camps could prove to be a valuable method of transforming the dim outlook of refugee children.
